Climbing duel

Crux Cup

Set the names, log the sends, and let the scoreboard start causing unnecessary feelings.
fun but ruthless

Two climbers, one rope-fuelled score feud. Harder UIAA grades are worth more, every fall shaves the score down, and unfinished tries still earn partial credit if the highpoint was meaningful.

Scoring system
  • Base route value rises nonlinearly with UIAA grade, so harder climbs matter much more than easy mileage.
  • Progress credit: topped = 100%, 90%+ = 85%, 75–89% = 65%, 50–74% = 40%, 25–49% = 20%, <25% = 0%.
  • Falls penalty: points = round(base × progress / (1 + 0.35 × falls))
  • Endurance bonus: every 10 topped routes by the same climber earns a bonus from that climber’s average topped-route points, with exponential scaling at 20, 30, 40 tops and so on.
  • That means: 0 falls = 100% of the progress-adjusted value, 1 fall ≈ 74%, 2 falls ≈ 59%, 3 falls ≈ 49%.
  • Result: pushing harder grades is rewarded even before the top, but a real send still rules the kingdom.

In other words: bravery is rewarded, but flailing is taxed. A fair little bureaucracy.
